Attention CANCELLED l Dear Songwriters, It is with deep regret I write this. Unfortunately, due to lack of support and funding I have had to cancel The Clonmel Song Contest 2010. This would have been the eighth year and although the last seven years have been wonderful in so far as crossing entries and e-mails with you and then meeting everyone at the Grand Final, for what has been a great annual event in Clonmel, regretfully, Clonmel didn't see it. It was a struggle annually to get enough funding to raise the prize fund and then pay some expenses. It was a voluntary effort from year one and after spending the last ten years promoting songwriting in Clonmel unfortunately support for originality wasn't forthcoming. I couldn't possibly continue giving my time and more when those who benefited most couldn't see their way to support it. Perhaps there may be possibilities in the future to revive it if the right sponsor comes along or if I win the Euro Millions. Who knows. My greatest challenge has been setting up the contest. My greatest joy has been running it every year. My greatest disappointment is having to let go.
