The Platform where competition is open to all songwriters everywhere

Every Monday there is a songwriters competition. Two songs will be chosen by an audience vote to go forward the a monthly heat for 200euro.
The winner of each monthly heat will go through to compete in the final on Monday August 6th.
The winner of the August heat will automatically have a place in the Grand Final of the Clonmel Song Contest on November 2nd. 2007. + a one day recording session at Monorail Studio, Ballyporeen.
  JANUARY  
End Of Year Event
January 8th "See The Way I see" was the song that got Alan Pyke and Brian Power through to the first monthly heat on Monday,January, 29th. January 15th "Lying to Your Face" writen by Alan Pyke and performed by himself and Brian Power got through to the first monthly final on January, 29th. Singer/Songwriter Paul Doyle from Clonmel and studying in Scotland was a finalist with his song "Waergate"
January 8th "I Thought I was Gone" got Eoin Hally through to the first monthly heat on Monday, January 29th to compete for 200euro. January 15th "Fly Honey " writen by Alan Pyke and performed by himself and Brian Power got through to the first monthly final on January, 29th. David Thompson traveled from Kilkenny to compete for a place in the monthly final and made it through with "Haunted by Blackbirds"

Alan Pyke and Brian Power came through as worthy winners of the first Monthly Final at the Platform with their co-writen song "See the Way I See".

Richard Gleeson presents the First Monthly Winner's Prize of 200euro to Alan and Brian.

The Platform

February is looming and the first Platform Night will be on Monday February 12th. All singer/songwriters are welcome to come an compete or just join in in the open mic session.

Mark Noonan, singer/songwriter is part of the Songfest.ie team. Johnny Mac has returned to songwriting and has put it down to the oppertunities created by The Platform. Colin FahyWinner of the Clonmel Song Contest 2006 Launched The Platform on Monday January 8th.
  MARCH  
Grushenka Arnold from Wicklow won the 200euro in the march Final. Visit her on www.grushenka.com
Paul Flood from Kildare, was a finalist in the Clonmel Song Contest 2005 was a welcome guest at The platform.
Local singer/songwriter Andrew Lynch kept the audience on their feet at the Platform.
Padraig Dempsey entered with two great songs and showed what local talent had to offer. Singer/songwriter Noel O'Neill a successful songwriter from Clonmel put his Dillon style on his songs Mike Walsh presents Grushenka with the prize money for winning the March Final. Jim Flynn also in the picture is assistant director in the Clonmel Song Contest team.
Local talanted songwriter and composer Adrien Boyle wasn't in a competitave mood and came for the open mic session and entertained the audience in between times.    
 
APRIL
 
Majella Murphy was special guest at The Platform on Easter Monday. Singing a selection of her own songs including 'Mary Jones' she left a happy entertained audience. John O'Brien from Cahir won the audience vote with both his songs and goes through to the April final on Monday April, 30th. Andrew Lynch is a regular visitor to the Platform and always has a new song.
Padraig Dempsey a good buddy of Andrews always gives a good performance.
Pacifix are a original band and were made very welcome on Easter Monday. They Traveled from Co Offily and endorsed The Platform for its work.
Pritty Faces who grace the bar at The Platform. Well! One at least.

Martin Hutchinson from Holland performed on the Platform at Gleeson's on Sonday April 2nd. Yes Sunday! He played a blinder and his songwriting and guitar playing talent were well portrayed.

 

Adrien Boyle one of our most regular local songwriters to The Platform played support to Martin Hutchinson.

John O'Brien from Cahir won the April Final with his song 'The Arms of Achilles'. He was accompanied on stage by Jenny Davis.

Jimi Cullen came in a close second on April 30th with 'Small Minded People Living in Small Minded Towns'. Jimi is a regular visitor to The Platform and never fails to get a laugh from his songs.

 

Richard Gleeson presents 200euro monthly prize for June to winner Thomas Chambers from Galway Neal Byrne from Waterford was the winner of the July Final with his song "In One Ear"
